The Last TBR of 2020!

December 21, 2020 in Books
End of 2020 TBR

I hear what you’re saying, isn’t it a bit late for one more TBR in 2020? And to that, I say “nay!” You see, I have some posts scheduled to cover me from now until the new year but in the meantime, this mama is signing off for the holidays which means more time to read. Bliss!

But first of all, thank you so much for being here throughout 2020! Your love and support has meant the world to me. I wish you and your loved ones a very happy holidays and I hope to see you around in 2021! Now that’s out of the way, let’s talk books!

10 Blind Dates
by Ashley Elston

This is actually a last minute addition to my list because I only bought it last week but it’s one that’s raved about non-stop this time of year. (#Booktubemademedoit) From what I gather it’s a sweet YA romance where a young woman is set up on a series of mystery dates by her family members. It sounds really fun!

The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily
by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan

The Twelve Days of Dash and LilyIt has been years since I read the first book in the series and I can’t for the life of me figure out why I haven’t gotten around to reading this yet. Maybe I have and forgot all about it. We will find out very soon. Anyway, I fell in love with Dash and Lily and their adorable festive romance so I can’t wait to dip my toes into this one.Β

Also the third book was just released and I’m so excited because it’s set in London! If you don’t already know, I grew up in London and lived there until I was 27 so yeah, very excited to see Dash and Lily in a familiar setting!

My True Love Gave to Me
edited by Stephanie Perkins

My True Love Gave To MeFun fact: I actually bought this shortly after it was released, didn’t read it, sold it and then had to buy it all over again. But I’m definitely reading it this time. I am ready. I’m in the right frame of mind for a fluffy YA anthology full of festive cheer and hopefully wholesome romance. Some of the authors included here are favourites of mine and yeah, I’m just ready for a good time.

A Christmas Carol
by Charles Dickens

So this is one of my all time favourites. It’s a classic, everyone knows the story but some people could do with a little refresher on the message behind it if you ask me. I’ll probably read along while listening to the audiobook because I still haven’t gotten around to listening to it – oops!

The 12 Screams of Christmas
by R. L. Stine

The 12 Screams of ChristmasOne of my secret reading goals for 2020 was to revisit an old favourite of mine: the Goosebumps series. And so I chose to read this one which is completely new to me. It’s got Christmas in the title so I’m anticipating some festivities at the bare minimum and possibly some scares.

The Percy Jackson Series
by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson series by Rick RiordanFinally, in that sweet spot between Christmas and New Year I’m hoping to binge read as many of the Percy Jackson books as I can. In an ideal world, I’d finish the series. (I’ve already read The Lightning Thief.) But even getting one or two of them out of the way would clear a little bit of space on my TBR.

Once again, I’d like to wish you all the very best over the holidays. I hope that it is as joyous as can be after this hurricane of a year.

What books are you hoping to read over Christmas? Let me know in the comments below!

It’s never too late to have another TBR (although I’m not much of a reader, those book covers are lovely!) I’m happy you’re getting into reading. Thanks for sharing.

So far I’ve read 5 books in December and none of them were on my December TBR so I don’t know anymore πŸ˜‚

Hahaha I totally get it. I haven’t decided if I’ll make strict TBRs next year because I stray so quickly haha.

10 Blind Dates sounds like an amazing book and I have heard raves about it too. I always enjoy an interesting and amusing premise.

My True Love Gave to Me is a beautiful book! I am blown away by the design on the cover.
Enjoy Percy Jackson; it is a timeless series. πŸ™‚

    Happy holidays and solstice!

Thanks Jaya! πŸ™‚ There’s a newer cover design for My True Love Gave to Me that’s equally beautiful but in a very different way, I can’t decide which I like most. πŸ™‚

Great picks for the end of the year! I’m beginning 2021 with Dash & Lily because I had no clue it was based on books when I watched the show – and I LOVED IT. So I immediately planned a buddy read with a friend for January. I can’t wait to dive in. I hope they continue the show into multiple seasons for each of the books. I love that you have a mix of contemporary, classics, and even some haunting reads. So fun!

Oh yay I’m so glad you enjoyed the show! I’ve been holding off until I got more of a hit or miss vibe from others so that’s really good to know. πŸ™‚ I hope you enjoy the books just as much, if not more! πŸ™‚

Thanks Cristina! Best of luck with your last minute end of year reads! πŸ™‚

I add books to my TBR on an almost daily basis, so I say it’s never too late! I hope you enjoy each of these books as you get some R&R over the holidays.

      Thanks Jodie! πŸ™‚

I love that you included a Goosebumps book in your TBR. Those books are fantastic, I loved reading them as a kid and I remember rereading a few of them some years ago and they were still awesome. I hope you are able to read most of these before the end of the month.

    • Hayley December 22, 2020 at 7:35 pm

Right? They were THE series of my childhood and I’m really hoping this one lives up to my expectations. πŸ™‚ Thank you so much, I hope so too!

  • lifestyleseason December 22, 2020 at 5:04 pm

Great post! I haven’t read any of these books except for A Christmas Carol but I like the sound of the first book! Thank you for sharing this TBR.
