May Favourites 2019

May has been one chaotic month – with Matt in Europe for two weeks and two family trips of our own, it’s been absolutely manic. But it’s also been a pretty incredible month. We were lucky enough to spend time with most of our extended family which was amazing. It was great to catch up with people we hadn’t seen in ages. So overall, a lovely but pretty exhausting month. And naturally, I have a few favourites to share with you!

Schitt’s Creek

I’m a sucker for a sitcom so when I saw the trailer for this on Netflix, I knew I had to give it a chance. This quickly escalated into binge-watching all five seasons – I loved it!

One of my favourite things about Schitt’s Creek is how much heart it has. Like you’ve got this extremely wealthy family who have lost all their riches and initially they’re difficult to relate to but you quickly fall in love with each of them and their quirks. And they become even more endearing and relatable as show goes on. Character development wise, it’s easily one of the best TV shows I’ve ever watched!

Find out what I thought of the final season of Schitt’s Creek over in my May 2020 recap + favourites post!

Parachute – Parachute

Parachute are one of my absolute favourite bands so naturally this was a highly anticipated album release for me and it did not disappoint. If you’re familiar with their discography, their self-titled album is exactly what you’d expect: flawlessly executed pop-rock tunes full of emotion.

Favourite tracks: Had It All and Young

Strange Love – Simple Creatures

This month I also found the time to check out the recent Simple Creatures release. When I heard that Alex Gaskarth (All Time Low) and Mark Hoppus (Blink-182) were teaming up for this side project, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But it’s good, it’s really really good.

Favourite tracks: How to Live and Adrenaline

A Murder of Magpies + Last of the Magpies BY Mark Edwards

Book-wise, I had the pleasure of finally finishing The Magpies trilogy. I won’t go into detail to avoid spoilers but if you’re new to the trilogy, basically it’s about this young couple who move into a new home and find themselves tormented by their neighbours. It’s a fantastic and thrilling series from start to finish!

Strawberry Iced Lemonade

After hearing rave reviews about Costa Coffee’s Strawberry Iced Lemonade, I was desperate to try it for myself. So I did and since it’s made this list, you know that I thought it was amazing and well worth the hype.

It’s refreshingly light and has this lovely strawberry taste to it which makes it the perfect summer drink. In fact, it was so good that Matt ended up going back to buy one for himself!
